“No matter…. who you are, where you come from, whom you love, what you believe… you are welcome.”
When we say everyone is welcome, we really mean everyone is welcome. Come as you are. No matter what path brought you to our door, we welcome you to come in.
What time should I arrive?
You might consider arriving a few minutes before the start time of 10:25 am. Please have a look around and feel free to ask questions.
Where should I park?
Onsite parking is available around the exterior of the church. There is also accessible parking available for those with accessibility concerns.
Is the building accessible?
The building is accessible. At this point there is no automatic entrance, however greeters are at the door on Sunday mornings and will gladly assist you in opening the doors. There are accessible washrooms and because we use chairs instead of pews wheelchair accommodation is easy.
Where do I take my children?
At the beginning of Sunday worship, adults and children are together. After the opening of worship, children age 3 and older proceed out to the church hall for children`s worship. Our Children’s Ministry ensures that every child is included. A well-equipped and professionally staffed nursery is available for children age 3 and younger at any point during the worship service. For more information please read the Sunday School page.
What should I wear?
We want you to always feel comfortable in our church. You may see some of us dressed formally, or you may see some of us dress casually. We value you; we are not here to judge your wardrobe.
Please note: We are a Scent Free Church. Thank-you for your understanding.
What can I expect in the worship service?
We consider White Oaks United to be a community church. We sing hymns that are inclusive of all, global music and some of the more contemporary praise and worship songs. You can also anticipate a sermon that is biblical, clear, and applicable to everyday life. In all of our services it is our desire to build our spirits as we build our lives in the way of Christ.
How long is the worship service and what happens afterward?
The service is generally about one hour long. After worship children and adults, who wish, are welcome to gather for a time of informal refreshments and conversation. Some people stay for 5 minutes, most have left for other activities in their day within a half hour.
What are my options for financially supporting the church and its mission?
We thank you for you considering a financial gift to White Oaks United Church. There are a variety of ways that you can help finance the work of White Oaks United Church.
Interac e-Transfer – Donate any amount, any time you want. You control your own Interac e-Transfers through your on-line banking website or mobile app. Use treasurer@whiteoaksunitedchurch.ca as the recipient. Auto-deposit has been turned on, so security questions are not required. Be sure to include your full address OR envelope number in the memo field to receive an annual tax receipt.
Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) – Donate a set amount you choose (never more, never less) with monthly automated transfers (bank account or credit card). Its the easiest way to give. No messing about with envelopes, or worrying about whether you’re ready for offering. Give a consistent amount monthly, and receive an annual tax receipt. Fill out the PAR form and submit to our Office Administrator, Beth Wood.
Offering Envelopes – Attend church, put your cash or cheque donation in an offering envelope, and place your envelope in the offering plate as it’s passed along your pew. You can also drop off your offering during our office hours. Cheques should be made out to “White Oaks United Church”. To receive an annual tax receipt, either include your full name on each pew envelope OR request personalized envelopes that are identified by an anonymous envelope number.
Canada Helps – you can go on line and donate through Canada Helps making White Oaks United Church the recipient of your donation. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/whiteoaksunitedchurch/ Please provide your envelope # when you donate.
Also, by contacting the church office you can offer a contribution outside of worship. If you feel so moved, a contribution can be made in memory of a loved one or in honour of a special event (for a special birthday, anniversary, baptism or any other occasion). Some people wish their support to continue after their death and make a bequest to White Oaks United Church as part of their will and legacy planning.
Do you rent your facilities for events?
Our facilities are available for rent for a multitude of events (showers, birthday parties, meetings, etc). The hall has a functional kitchen that is also available to rent. For more information please reach out to the office coordinator.
How can I connect?
Throughout the year we offer a variety of gatherings. Feel free to join in when you are comfortable doing so. But first off, fill in a Connection Card on a Sunday morning and we will begin to connect with you by sending updates of special events and other happenings.
