Lent Spiritual Journey – 2026

Life Stories is a Seven week Spiritual Journey led by Rev. Dr. Anne Beattie-Stokes on Friday mornings from 10:30 to noon, starting on February 13th and finishing on March 27th. The Bible is full of stories as ancient writers remember, reflect, wrestle and try to make sense of life with God and with one another. These stores were passed down so that we also might remember, reflect and wrestle with our lives: taking stock of how far we’ve come, reconnecting with the present, and turning the page toward the future. On our journey together, we’ll carry the Bible in one hand and the wisdom of Madeleine L’Engle in the other as we connect our stories to the gospel stories for Ash Wednesday and the Sundays of Lent and Palm/Passion Sunday. We’ll gather together on Fridays and dive into the material. During the week to follow, we’ll reflect and write our life stories using practices from the study guide. Cream Filled Easter Eggs

The ladies of the church will be making these delicious cream filled Easter Eggs. The price per egg is $2.50. We are taking orders shortly, please email… churchoffice@whiteoaksunitedchurch.ca or call the church 519-681-3229 to place an order. They will be ready in time for Easter.

Beef Meat Pies

On Saturday March 7th we will be making our delicious beef meat pies. These will be available for sale later that afternoon. If you would like to order some they are $6.00 each. Please contact the church at 519-681-3229 to place your order.

Coffee Fellowship

Join us for a social get together every Thursday morning 10:30 – 11:30.  We meet by a Zoom meeting. Contact Rev. Michelle Owens (owens@whiteoaksunitedchurch.ca) for the link and get started with the fun and conversation.

Council Meeting

Council meets on the second Tuesday each month from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. We are holding these meetings by Zoom. Committees meet at times that are convenient for them, please see committee chairs for meeting times and dates.   Contact Heather McLean

Broadview Chat & Lunch

The Broadview discussion group is a component of the Adult Christian Education Program here at White Oaks United Church. Broadview Magazine is affiliated with the United Church of Canada. We share our perspectives and challenge our faith on the issues of Spirituality, Justice and Ethical Living.
If you would like to share your thoughts on the issues in Broadview, you are welcome to join us here at White Oaks on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Jim Peden Hall from 11:00 to 12:30 pm. Bring a bagged lunch

Choir

Choir Practice

Add your voice to our choir, Thursday evenings from Sept-June, at 7:30 pm. The choir practices each week for the upcoming worship services.  Contact Carol Schulze or Laurie McAndrew.

Walking Group

You are invited to join our new walking group. We meet Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am on the upper level of Westmount Mall. There is underground parking, elevators, and a Tim Horton’s coffee shop available. Come and join us to get a little exercise and meet other walking. If you can only walk for half the time that is okay. Walk for as long as you can and at a pace that is good for you. We hope to see you there.

PS: the first time we met we walked over 5, 200 steps. We original planned to walk for 2 hours, but found 1 hour was long enough.

Beaver, Cub and Scout Groups

Cub Scouts is the Cub Scout section of Scouts Canada for children aged from 8 to 10. Originally the “Wolf Cubs,” the program offers badges to youth members as a mark of achievement in an interest area.

They currently meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30pm and every boy in this age group is welcomed to join in. We only have the Beaver and Cub Groups meeting at this time. There is no Scouting group. For more information, please contact Brenda Keasey Harter at 226-688-4844.

 Craft Group

Join us on the third Saturday of the month from 9:30am – 12:00pm with this interesting group of crafters. Fresh new craft ideas are welcomed.  Snacks are provided.  Contact Beth Lapierre for more information.

Pizza & Movie Night

Join us on the first Saturday of each month from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Cost is $7.00 per person which covers the pizza, a salad, drinks, ice cream and a movie. Voting for a movie takes place at the entrance, and the winner is shown after dinner. You need to sign up with the church office so that we order enough pizza. What a great night out! Come and join the fun.
